Verde Potash Plc is committed to the protection of the environment at all stages of the mine cycle including exploration, development, operation decommissioning, and closure. We are committed to the responsible development of the resources within our community while meeting the current needs and not jeopardizing the needs of the future.

To effectively meet this commitment, Verde Potash and its subsidiaries will:

  • Comply with applicable environmental laws and regulations at all times; at all locations; and at all stages of exploration, development, operations and closure;
  • Implement, document and maintain formal environmental management systems that are aligned with applicable international standards;
  • Identify, assess, monitor, control, and manage significant environmental risks associated with its activities;
  • Ensure that all directors, officers, employees and contractors are trained to understand their environmental responsibilities and create an environment conducive to adhering to the Company’s policies, procedures and applicable regulations;
  • Identify potential environmental emergencies; implement, maintain, and regularly test emergency response plans;
  • Establish clear and meaningful environmental objectives and targets aimed at continuously improving environmental performance;
  • Maintain a constructive dialogue with local communities and other stakeholders on environmental and social issues;
  • Implement programs to prevent pollution, including measures to effectively reduce and manage wastes;
  • Decommission and reclaim operating sites in a systematic and timely manner;
  • Provide employees and contractors with training on environmental matters so they can better understand their role in meeting the commitments of this policy, within their own areas of responsibility;
  • Conduct regular audits of the environmental management systems and programs;
  • Continuously review environmental achievements and technology to share and promote implementation of best practices;
  • Communicate this policy and the progress made in improving environmental performance to employees, contractors, the public, government and other communities of interest.
