Verde’s wholly-owned Cerrado Verde Project is located in western Minas Gerais, Brazil. It consists of 118,742 hectares of savannah, situated in Brazil’s Cerrado agricultural region . The demand for potash in Brazil is centred in Minas Gerais and its neighbouring states, where 58% of all fertilizers are consumed. It is the heart of the Brazilian agriculture industry, where sugar cane, soy beans, coffee and corn are grown. At almost 20 million inhabitants, Minas Gerais is Brazil’s second richest, and second most populous state. Being an important hub of industry and food production, Minas Gerais is a modern state possessing a modern infrastructure complete with paved highways, railways, and electricity.
